Man has always had a desire to reach the stars, and in 1961 with Gagarin, we achieved that goal. Since then, we have made a considerable amount of progress. 1957: First satellite in space.(1) 1961: First human in space.(2) 1962: JFK sets the course for Apollo 11.(3) 1967: Tragic fire in Apollo 1.(4) 1969: Apollo 11 lands on the moon for the 1st time.(5) 1975: First handshake in space with Apollo-Soyuz mission.(6) 1981: First space shuttle launch.(7) 1986: Challenger disaster.(8) 2003: Columbia breakup.(9) 2011: US space shuttle program ends.(10) 2015-16: Scott Kelly spends a year in space.(11) 2016-20: Falcon 9 launches.(12) Space Wonders
